5 Jazz Psalms

The ambition of putting on a choir and full Big Band concert in a Cathedral setting led Andrew to write his 5 Jazz Psalms. Inspired by the sacred texts, these pieces honour the spirit of the psalms whilst setting them in a jazz style and updating some of the language to make them more accessible. They can be performed piano-only, with jazz quartet or, most spectacularly, with full big band. Whether appearing as individual items in a programme or as a set, these pieces are a breath of fresh air in the choral repertoire.
